Katrina Timeline: Don't Be Fooled

Next week's Katrina anniversary poses a huge vulnerability for Republicans as they head into the November elections. The White House has already started a massive PR campaign to spin the facts. Don't be fooled. Think Progress has published a timeline laying them all out.

Katrina was devastating, but so was State Farm.

What has this disaster taught us? Neither political party is your best salvation. You are. Have supplies and food. Evacuation plans. Bush, Blanco, and Nagin can't help for the first few days. I have been through 3 major hurricanes in the past 2 years - I am amazed at how many people (young, old, poor, rich, educated, illeterate) don't prepare properly for events such as this. It's hard enough dealing with government and corporate beauracracy in a non-emergency situation.

bush apparently can't help for the first year. giving no-bid contracts to out of state cronies who hired out of state and illegal immigrants and still didn't do the job.

The most important thing to have will be gasoline. I think insurance still covers fires.

You really have to give the democrats credit for their swiftness in exploiting this tragedy before it even happened. I have it on tape, like 9-11 it makes for great watching...in hindsight it's disgraceful. The gears of the misinformation machine were moving throughout the weekend, long before the storm struck. The republicans got the jump on the democrats when 3000 died, the dems weren't gonna let this chance slip by.

Sailor - Tell me why the rest of the country is supposed to empty their pockets to rebuild property that's just going to flood again?
