Dick Cheney has some advice for Mitt Romney: Don't pick a Sarah Palin. Cheney says he likes Palin but McCain shouldn't have picked her for his running mate because she wasn't qualified. He says the test has to be whether the person is qualified to assume the Presidency and she was not.

The interview will air tomorrow and highlights, including the part about Palin, are already available. I couldn't stand to watch for than 10 seconds of Dick Cheney, so I didn't see the actual remarks.

    he had when he diagnosed Dubya as unqualified to be president without himself as VP. Too bad picking a VP is is only demonstrable skill.

     for the interview before I flew for the remote.....looks like they taped it in beautiful Jacskon WY. The thought of Cheney enjoying a newly healthy, happy retirement when so many are dead or maimed, and many others at home are losing their livelihoods and homes, is galling beyond my powers of description.

    there ever was an expert on persons unqualified to hold national office, it would be that vampire, Cheney.

    We have a nation of around 314 million people.

    And we wound up with the likes of Bush and Cheney.

    Twice.

    It is a subject worth investigating.

    what I believe to be true.

    That was his "qualification" for the job.

    As much as I would have preferred Gore to win against the Beast, the pick of Lieberman really showed a major flaw in Gore's capacity to think clearly under pressure.

    that we all like to poke fun at the "American people" and the not too bright choices they sometimes make. But, there's one trait they've shown over and over again  that they have strong feelings about, and that is they don't like wishy-washy  characteristics in their Leaders. You know, the old "He says what he means and he means what he says." They also like Loyalty. "Joe Schmo is a friend of mine and just because he held up the liquor store I'm not going to turn my back on him now. A true friend sticks with you through thick and thin, it's when you're in trouble that you find out who your real friends are."

    When I saw Al Gore turn his back on his long time "friend," Bill Clinton, the guy that chose him to be his Vice President no less, and then who he chose as own Vice Presidential contender, I wanted to go up to him and spit in his face. I don't care who you are, Democrat or Republican, rich or poor, young or old, a back stabber is a back stabber, and that's a characteristic Nobody likes.

    "civil" debate between Lieberman and Cheney--the best ever, it was said by the chattering class.  Lieberman "teased" Cheney about how much better off he was after eight years of Democrats, what with Cheney's recently acquired $millions,  and then let Cheney get away with the response: " I tell you, Joe, that government had absolutely nothing to do with it."  Of course, this was Cheney, former Secretary of Defense as CEO of Haliburton.

    that debate.

    Cheney was despicable, and yet Joe was so slimy and contemptible that Cheney came off as the less putrid of the two.

    As a tangent - I remember the Kerry-Bush debate in 2004. All Kerry would have had to do was refer to Bush's horrifying "where are the WMD" comedy routine at the press club. He could have referred to the thousands of Americans dead and wounded - and how callous Bush was to have made a comic turn out of his lethal lies. You know - show some anger on behalf of the American people.

    But he said nothing. Mumbled something about Tora-Bora - which meant nothing to nobody - and let Bush off the hook looking like a nice boy instead of the evil freak that he was.

    What is the matter with these democrats?

    And thanks Cheney for pointing out the obvious and what every non-Fox viewer has known for four years.  Surely there has to be some quotes out there of Cheney waving a Palin flag.  

    I would love to see her with a Nixon, "You won't have Palin to kick around anymore", moment.  But then again, she is fun to kick around...

    Well, I'm always glad to get comments four years later. Look, I respect the vice president. He and I had strong disagreements as to whether we should torture people or not. I don't think we should have. But the fact is I'm proud of Sarah Palin. I'm proud of the job she did. I'm proud of the job she continues to do. Everybody has their own views and I respect those views. But I'm proud of what we did.

    approves of torturing people?  That makes no sense to me: it's not like they disagree over which team should win the Super Bowl, or whether the toilet paper rolls under or over - this is torture we're talking about, for heaven's sake.
